Good software for creating Japanese anime / comic book style animation? What's a good digital animation software program to use for creating animation in the style of Japanese anime or comic books?I'm am a pretty decent anime / comic book artist for single drawings.
I know Flash does some very basic animation, but I'm really looking for an indie filmmaker's quality results, but still under £100 (I'm only 14)
But any good software suggestions for animation are appreciated! |
Some of the better commercial 2D animation programs such as Digicel Flipbook, Toon Boom, TVPaint, TAB, and PAP, have Student or Express versions that are fairly inexpensive. However, you might be disappointed by how crippled these stripped down programs are compared to their more expensive Pro versions. But if you look hard enough you should be able to find them cracked online (rapidshare, bittorrent). There are some free alternatives.
If you're doing old school drawn on paper frame by frame stuff or stop-motion or 2D, I'd suggest MonkeyJam. It's free.

If you're on a Mac, use Pencil(there's PC and Linux versions as well).

If you want to do Flash animation like the stuff on Newgrounds.com, either break down and buy Adobe Flash or you can try Creatoon or Synfig, which are free. They're not Flash, but they also do vector based symbol oriented
animation.

Good software for creating Japanese anime / comic book style animation? What's a good digital animation software program to use for creating animation in the style of Japanese anime or comic books? I have a Watcom tablet and Adobe Illustrator and am a pretty decent anime / comic book artist for single drawings.
But a friend of mine asked if I could make them an animated music video with my artwork. Other than drawing it frame by frame like the old fashioned cell wall, I'd like to use software that maybe lets me enter basic key frame drawings and it extrapolates the animation between them.
I know Flash does some very basic animation, but I'm really looking for an indie filmmaker's quality results, but still under $1000. I have access to other digital filmmaking software (Adobe) so it would be great if it's compatible.
But any good software suggestions for animation are appreciated! |
Anime Studio Pro will probably do what you want, it's only $200, maybe less if you can find it at a discount web store.
You can create your own characters either in the program or with a vector drawing program. It uses the "bone" method , you rig bones to your model, position the key frames and it extrapolates the movement in between. You can also do traditional cell based animation, although bone rigged models are its forte. The software details can be found here:

Where can I download the complete collection of the web-comic; Anime Arcadia? A few years ago, I started reading the web-comic; Anime Arcadia. And it eventually came to an end. But now the site's no longer active, and I've been searching for a place to download the entire series since. If anyone could help me; you'd make an artist rather happy.

| Re-ask this in the Comics & Animation category instead of here on visual arts, that will help you get more answers. |
How do I Draw Manga/Anime/Comic Sound-Effects and Emotions? How do I draw sound effects? Like when a board falls and hits the ground, making a sound? Like, how do I illustrate the crash, emphasizing the resulting sound?
Also, what is the weird "x" shaped star called that appears on manga/anime characters' heads when they are irritated? |
| you could draw curves or zigzags around the sides and bottom of the object, indicating sound waves. Or you could use the comic affect such as "BAM" or "CRASH", with ziggys surrounding the words. |
What's a sexy anime/comic book woman I can dress up as? I'm short-ish, have a medium-small frame, my hips are big, my waist is small, my boobs are biggish, and i'm going to a halloween party and i need to dress up as a sexy fantasy character from either a comic book or an anime...i was thinking harley quinn from batman but idk if that costume will look good on someone with hips, anyone have a suggestion for me? :D |
Any of the Sailor Scouts, Aeon Flux, Storm from X-Men... there are tons.
Incidentally, I think Harley Quinn is an awesome choice. Most comic book female characters do have hips... nice curvy ones, as a matter of fact. |
How can I write my own anime comic? Do I have to be japanese to write my own aime comic if so that sucks.................... |
| Of course not. That's just stereotyping, I know plenty of non-japanese anime writers. Just work hard and believe in yourself. |
